Supporting LA Wildfire Victims

Thank you to everyone who reached out. Our team is safe, but many of our friends have been impacted by the fires. While it seems the winds are easing, the fires remain far from contained. 

In response to the many friends who have reached asked, we have put together this list on how you can donate to assist fire victims and where those affected can find the help they need.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the firefighters and volunteers for their remarkable dedication and bravery in keeping our communities safe.

How You Can Help and Where to Find Assistance

  • Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation (LAFD Foundation). Your donations help provide vital equipment and funds for critical programs that assist the LAFD in saving lives and protecting communities. Donate Here

  • American Red Cross. The Red Cross provides emergency shelter, food, and relief supplies to displaced residents. Evacuation centers have been set up across the region. Learn More. 

  • Baby2Baby. If you are in need of emergency supplies such as diapers, food, formula, clothing, or hygiene products, Baby2Baby is distributing these items in collaboration with schools, shelters, and hospitals. Learn More.

  • Best Friends Animal Society. Offers emergency assistance for pets and animals impacted by the wildfires. Learn More

  • California Fire Foundation. Provides direct financial support to those most affected by the fires. Learn More

  • Direct Relief. Delivers emergency medical supplies and personal care items to clinics and shelters in affected areas. Learn More.

  • Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Offers food assistance to individuals and families impacted by the fires. Learn More. 

  • FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). Offers disaster assistance for individuals and businesses. You can apply for aid at DisasterAssistance.gov.

  • Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC). Provides resources and support for businesses affected by the wildfires. Learn More. 

  • Southern Smoke Foundation. Support for food and beverage employees affected by the wildfires. Learn More

  • World Central Kitchen. Founded by Chef José Andrés, this organization distributes meals to displaced residents and emergency workers. Learn More

  • United Way of Greater Los Angeles. Focuses on long-term recovery efforts, including housing and financial stability for displaced individuals. Learn More. 

  • Pro Bono Therapy Sessions. If you are a first responder (firefighters, police, doctors, nurses, EMT, etc) or have been impacted by the the Los Angeles fires (people who have lost their home, had to evacuate, vicarious trauma, etc.) and you cannot afford therapy, please reach out for support. The providers on this list have agreed to provide a limited number of pro bono therapy sessions. Learn More.

  • All Power Books. We will be opening our doors to the community all week from 12-6pm for wildfire donation distribution!! If you have been impacted by the fires, whether you have been displaced, are out of work, or are just dealing with the smoke - don’t hesitate to stop by the shop and take what you need. Learn More.

  • Canine Rescue Club. We are dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of dogs which extends to dogs in need and thus Canine Rescue Club was born // 501c3. Learn More.

  • Pasadena Humane. Nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting compassion and care for all animals. Learn More.

  • Salvation Army. Wildfire Survivors need immediate assistance. Your donations help provide shelter food and support throughout California. Learn More.

  • Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firefighters Fund. is serving those in need. Some of our brave firefighters have suffered injuries while battling the flames and protecting the lives and properties of those impacted by these disasters. Learn More.

ADVICE ON DEALING WITH INSURANCE

  • File a claim right away. Most insurance agencies are first come first serve.

  • Insurance Adjustors. This video by Sharon Gillenwater breaks down:

    • Dwelling Coverage - replacement value to rebuild your house.

    • Personal Property - everything that is within your house (clothes, furniture, appliances, art, food).

    • Additional Living Expenses - overs temporary housing and food.

    • Ordinance and Upgrades - building to current code could cost more if you had an older home.

  • Vital Records.  If you have been affected by recent fires, you can request property records free of charge.  Call 800-201-8999 Option 1. Option 2 or email recorder@rrcc.lacounty.gov

  • Mortgage. Continue to pay your mortgage.

  • Tax Relief. You may be eligible for tax relief if your property is damaged or destroyed by a calamity, such as fire or flooding. Learn more.
