7 Signature Cocktails with Karl Steuck :: LA’s Top Cocktail Stylist
The Best Drink Ever recently asked LA’s Top Cocktail Stylist and Bar Consultant, Karl Steuck to share some of his favorite cocktails. Here are 7 of his Signature Cocktails.
01. "The Wailer”
This drink is made with Ethan+Ashe, Alkemista Sage infused Starr Rum, lime, pineapple, Liquid Alchemist orgeat and bitter truth Dr. Jerry Thomas bitters.
This is a drink you can't put down. You may try, but it's a fight you're not going to win. The sage is pronounced, but doesn't overpower. Dr. Jerry Thomas biters adds a perfect clove aroma and mouthfeel that cuts the natural sweetness of the pineapple.
02. "Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker”
Willy Wonka Aviation Gin, Campari, Juice Served Here, Cream Party, lemon, vanilla syrup and a splash of bubbles. Edible Flower.
03. "You put the lime in the coconut”
...Selvarey Rum, Cacao Rum, Giffard banana, Ancho Reyes lime and coconut water/cream.
This drink takes you away to another place. The Cacao rum plays so nice with the spice of the Ancho and the banana adds to the tropical vibe.
04 "Los Rita”
123 Organic Tequila reposado, Ancho Reyes, lime, blood orange and Juice Served Here coconut water/cream. Blood Orange, 1/4 oz, adds the little sweetness the drinks needs along with a sharp acid.
05 "Backyard Boogie”
Whistle Pig's Whiskey Rye, Art in the Age Root, cane sugar, house made fennel bitters, orange oil and finished with St George Spirits absinthe mist. This drink is a play on a Sazerac. The addition of the Art in the Age Root really takes it to the next level and work effortlessly along side the fennel bitters.
06 "Fall Back"
Loft and Bear, yellow chartreuse, black mission fig, lemon & orange, vanilla & cardamom syrup, and Juice Served Here Cream Party. Finished with rosemary & micro planed nutmeg. This drink is fall...The flavors are so balanced with the lemon and chartreuse cutting the natural sweetness of the fig Vanilla Cardamon syrup.
07 “Bear Knees”
This last drink for my takeover is a play on a Bees Knees, uses Chamomile infused Loft and Bear, Lemon, Orange Blossom honey. Finished with micro-planed Himalayan sea salt. Love adding salt to cocktails...Gives such a nice feel especially in the last few sips. I prefer not adding on rim, but rather on a large cube.
