Last Stop! Dinner and Drinks at Twenty 88 Bistro :: Ventura County Coast

Our final stop in Ventura County Coast takes us to Dinner & Drinks at Twenty 88 Bistro.

Back in Camarillo for our last stop, we enjoy some gourmet American fare while we catch up with bartender Jeff Hamilton, who introduces us to some of his creative cocktails.

Vermont Blood

It begins with Vermont Blood, a riff on the famous Kentucky Blood, since it uses Whistle Pig Rye Whiskey in place of the more common bourbon. Jeff muddles serrano peppers with agave syrup, adds fresh blood orange and lime, finishing it with the Whistle Pig. Each drink is unique since you never know what kind of pepper you will end up with. There will be blood!

The Black Rose

As our meals are served, we continue to enjoy the lineup of cocktails, as Jeff serves his own creation, the Black Rose. A blackberry and rosemary based recipe, this drink mixes the soft flavors of elderflower, herbs and fruit - which go so well with a cocktail friendly rye like the WP10.

Tip of the Cap

And of course, no dinner is finished without one last round. Jeff's cocktail is the innovative Tip of the Cap, which uses egg white, bourbon, maple syrup, rhubarb liqueur, topped with nutmeg and rhubarb bitters.

Jeff says, "I am baffled by guys who use artificial flavors in their cocktails...It's Ventura County Coast. I can get any flavor that I want right outside! live here!"

Hope you enjoyed our cocktail tour of VCC. Don't forget to visit Ventura County Coast to find out more about this great beach community.
